Trek to Chembra Peak and Meenmutty waterfalls [3rd - 4th March 2012] - Registration is on

About Chembra Peak : .The Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad, at 2100m above sea level. Chembra is located near the town of Meppady and is 14 km west of Kalpetta. It is part of the Wayanad hill ranges in Western Ghats, adjoining the Nilgiri Hills in Tamilnadu and Vellarimala in Kozhikode district in Kerala. Chembra peak is accessible by foot from Meppady. District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides and trekking equipments on hire charges to the tourists.. Permission from the forest office in Meppady is required for trekking up to the Chembra peak. A heart shaped lake en route to the top of the peak is a major tourist attraction. The lake is believed to have never dried up.

About Meenmutty waterfalls:
Meenmutty Falls is located 29 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad District in the state of Kerala, India. It is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 300 metres. Meenmutty Falls, the largest and most spectacular waterfall in the Wayanad District, is a 2 km hike though the jungle from the main Ooty Road. It is Kerala"s second largest waterfall and the one most unspoiled in its natural setting. Each of its three tiers requires a separate hike through a moist, deciduous forest. The path is quiet dangerous and tiresome. but the waterfall is worth it.

Accommodation type	Depending on the availability: a) If weather is good, we will prefer to camp out. Be noted its a place in middle of nowhere, NO restrooms are accessible (one has to be dependent on natural resources) b) Dormitories: Ideally big room where people sleep in sleeping bags provided by us. There will be separate rooms for girls and guys.
Washrooms	Only at base camp. Only toilets, difficult to get shower/hotwater etc.
Food	Basic Veg food (2 Breakfasts, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner)
Transport	Non-A/C. Depending on number of participants it can be Tavera/Qualis, Tempo Traveller, MiniBus, Bus, others.
Distance from Bangalore	290 kms (one way)
Total trekking distance	8 kms approx. (one way)

10.00PM Meet up at Lifestyle - Near Garuda Mall
10:30PM Depart from Bangalore

Saturday 3rd March 2012:
06.00 AM Morning routine,
08:00 AM breakfast at Kalpetta
09.00 AM Start trekking up Chembra peak after availing permissions and guides.
01:00PM reach peak and have lunch.
02:00PM start climbing down
05:30PM Reach campsite near Karapuzha Dam

Sunday 4th March 2012:
08.00 AM Have breakfast at campsite
09.00 AM Start to Meenmutty Waterfalls
01:00 PM Finish lunch and start back to Bangalore.

 

Participation Fees: Rs. 3450.00
Above charges includes: Non-AC Transport, Basic Veg Food, Accommodation, Sleeping bags, Trek guide charges, Permission, coordinators etc.

Note: Drop points will be the same as pick-up points.

-      Please carry one strong back-pack
-  2 litres water bottle
-  Head wear like Caps, hats or bandanas
-  Toiletries (Comb, shampoo, tissue paper, soap, toothbrush, etc.)
-  Small torch with new batteries
-  Shoes for trekking
-  Change of clothes enough for two days
-  Energy food such as Chocolates, Nutri-bars, juice packs etc.
-  Rain jacket
-  Moov spray for leeches
